Further development of AHM
The track reconstruction with AHM technology has been used for 20 years. However, only minor developments have been conducted during the past 15 years. In practical engineering, the criteria of acceptance testing sometimes are not fulfilled (Evd up to 5 MN/m2 below requirements). Therefore, the research mainly focuses on the investigation of the compaction of the base.
The goals of the project are:
- The achievement of proper compaction of the base with quality control. The scatter of Evd-results should be minimised (within a range of 5 MN/m2).
- The assessment of factors with relevant impact on the compaction quality and a ranking of their importance.
Options for a further development of railmounted track reconstruction with AHM have mainly been investigated in the scope of the FFG research project "Base improvement of railroads" – a cooperation of Sweitelsky Baugesellschaft m.b.H and the Institute of Geotechnics, TU Wien.
Additionally, the Institute of Geotechnics, TU Wien, has been commissioned to document further compaction tests on AHM construction sites. Based on results from experimental field tests and laboratory tests, recommendations on machine technique and base materials will be given.
